How to Get to Fenghuang Ancient Town from Changsha? Bus travel is probably the most convenient way to get to Fenghuang. There are direct buses from numerous cities in China, but the four most common direct routes are from Changsha (长沙), Jishou (吉首) , Huaihua (怀化), and Zhangjiajie (张家界). Here will offer you some information between Changsha and Fenghuang.
Alternatively, as a transfer way, one can catch a bus/coach from Changsha City to get to Jishou City or Huaihua City first. Direct buses from Jishou to Fenghuang are available at the square of Jishou Railway Station from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm with air-conditioner equipped. Travelers can take the buses at Huaihua Long-distance Bus Station (10 minutes walking from Huaihua Railway Station). The buses leaving for Fenghuang from Huaihua Long-distance Bus Station are available from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm with an interval of 20 minutes. It takes about two and a half hour to get to Fenghuang.
Fenghuang does not have train station, however it is frequently faster to travel to either Jishou (吉首) or Huaihua (怀化) from Changsha by train first, and then change to a bus from Jishou or Huaihua to reach Fenghuang.
The nearest train station is Jishou Railway Station. Turn to Jishou North Bus Station near the railway station. From Jishou, buses at the square of Jishou Railway Station leave approximately every 30 minutes, though during peak times they often leave more frequently. Buses arrive in Fenghuang's Bus Station, then you should catch a taxi or public bus to get to the ancient town area,

From Huaihua, buses at Huaihua West Station (near Huaihua Railway Station) leave hourly for Fenghuang's Bus Station. the journey takes about 90 minutes.
Fenghuang Ancient Town is located about 280 kilometers from Zhangjiajie. Tourists who visit Zhangjiajie will often extend 2-3 days to explore Fenghuang Ancient Town. If your tour starts from Changsha, you can take the intercity trains or high speed trains from Changsha to Zhangjiajie first (3.5 hours ) to have a 2-3 days Zhangjiajie tour, then transfer to Fenghuang Ancient Town by our private vehicle (3 hours).
