Chengde Mountain Resort
Chengde Mountain Resort is ancient imperial palace of China. It is place to avoid the summer heat and deal with affairs for the emperors of the Qing Dynasty. It is located in north of Chengde City, Hebei Province. Founded from 1703, the construction of it happened from the reign of Emperor Kangxi, Yongzheng and Qianlong in Qing Dynasty. It took 89 years to finish the construction.
It is China's largest existing imperial garden, covering an area of 5.64 million square meters, double that of the Summer Palace, and eight times that of Beihai Park in Beijing.
Chengde Qingchui MountainChengde Qingchui Mountain is famous for peculiar landscape and Danxia landform. It is National Forest Park, blending with the famous Mountain Resort scenic area and Eight Outer Temples. It covers a total area of 159 acres, about 2.5 km from the city.
It is said that people who touched the mountain can live at the age of 130. Despite knowing that this is just a blessing filled with a banter mean, but the most visitors will touch it in order to live longer. The scenery is amazing at the top of the mountain. Make sure bring your camera with you.
Eight Outer Temples
Eight Outer Temples is the general name of eight Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in this area, including the Boren Temple, Puning Temple, An'yuan Temple, Putuozongcheng Temple, Guang'an Temple, Suxiang Temple, Guangyuan Temple, Ximi Fushou Temple (the temple for praying happiness and longevity). The temples combine the architectural style of the Han-style temple, Tibetan monasteries, and Tibetan-Han style three forms. Its architecture, gardens and a large number of inscriptions, sculptures, murals, statues and other artifacts plays a important role in the study of history, culture, religion art, garden culture of Qing Dynasty as art treasures.
If you come to Chengde, do not leave before seeing at least both Putuo and Puning temples. If you were time-constrained I would even recommend seeing them over the Mountain resort itself.
