Changling Tomb is located approximately 40 kilometers northwest of Beijing City. It is sited in Changping County, fifty kilometers away fromForbidden City. It is south to the stone arch, north to Tianshou Hill. It is surrounded by mountains and trees. Changling is the mausoleum of the third emperor, Yongle Emperor Zhu Di, in Ming Dynasty. It is the first tomb, as well as the main mausoleum in Ming Tombs in Beijing. Except for the Yongle Emperor Zhu Di, the Empress Xu was buried here too. Changling Tomb began to be built in 1409, and was completed in 1413. It is the largest, oldest and also best-preserved tomb in the Ming Tombs. So Changling Tomb is one of main tourist attractions within Ming Tombs. The palace buildings in Changling tomb cover an area of about 120,000 square meters, with rectangular front and cylindrical behind. The rectangular front is consisted of three courtyards. The emperor built the tomb by himself.

Main attractions
Ling En Gate
Ling En Gate is in the second courtyard of Changling Tomb. The gate is 31.4 meters wide, 14.37 meters deep and 14.57 meters high. It is based on a Xumizuo with white marble railings. The railings are carved with dragons and phoenix. The four corners and below each railngs have drainage exits. There are respectively three stone steps in front and at the back of the basement stone. And the steps are carved with beautiful relief.

Ling En Hall
Ling En Hall is a worship place for the heirs of Yongle emperor to sacrifice him. The building is based on a white marble pedestal paved with gold inside. The hall is 66.56 m wide and 29.12 meters long. In the center of the hall sits the copper statue of Emperor Yongle in a throne, vivid and exquisite. This statue is a piece of art masterpiece in the history. There are also hundreds of historical relics on display in the hall.

Travel tips
Opening Hour: 8:00am – 5:00pm in busy season; 8:30am – 4:30pm in off season. By the way, the busy season is from November 1 to March 31 in the next year and the off season is from April 1 to October 31.
