Red Beach National Scenic Corridor is a national scenic spot with 5A rating, a national nature reserve, and an excellent tourist scenic spot in Liaoning Province. It belongs to the wetland ecological tourism area, which is the perfect combination of the natural environment and cultural landscape. Due to the unique natural wonder, it owns the reputation of World-Class Red Beach, The Most Wonderful Coast Scenic Corridor in China and Most Romantic Outdoor Recreation Coastline in China.
Red Beach National Scenic Corridor is located in the northeast of Bohai Bay in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, in the Liaohe Delta wetland. It is about 45 kilometers away from Panjin City and about 230 kilometers from Dalian.
Red Beach Scenic Area is renowned to the world for its unique natural wonder - Red Beach. The wetland presents to be red is not because of the sand, but it grows special vegetation called Suaeda Glauca on large scale. Suaeda Glauca is considered to be the only vegetation that could survive in the harsh condition of saline soil. It could sprout from March to June, bloom in July and August, bear fruits in September and October, and completely ripen in November. It is tender red at first, gradually turning deep, from red to purple. It does not need people to sow nor cultivate. However, it still could grow year after year in a cluster and a fluffy way, which brews a piece of the fiery red color of life. The Red Beach extends to the sea at a speed of 50 meters every year, following the trail of waves.
Red Beach Scenic Area is located in the wetland of reed marshes with an area over 800 kilometers, so it is an ideal habitat for the migratory birds. The boundless reed sea is the home to over 260 species birds. It is a magnificent picture that thousands of birds soar amount the reed marshes every migratory season. It is worth mentioning that Red Beach Scenic Area is the southernmost breeding place for Red-crowned Crane and the main breeding ground for Chinese Black-headed Gull, an endangered and rare bird in the world. If you would like to watch the birds, then you can choose the migratory season to come. Every spring from March to April, the birds migrate here from the south, while they migrate back to the south in October.
Located in the coastal wetland with vast reed marshes and beach of Suaeda Glauca, the whole scenic area constitutes a red-green spectacular wonder. There are ten scenic spots which are connected by a coastal highway. Red Beach National Scenic Corridor is a comprehensive attraction with perfect facility, so you could choose to take the Eco shuttle bus as the transportation in the scenic area. Here we would like to list several mains attractions from the north to the south.
The trestle is long and winding, connecting with the sea and the sky, as if a big ship is about to set sail. Walking along the corridor, you would see the red beach and green reeds on both sides, watch the thousands of migratory birds soaring to the sky, and feel the magnificent waves of the sea.
If you would overlook it from the sky, Wolong Lake seems to be a giant dragon lying on the reed marsh. You could choose to have the boat service and go deep into the reeds.
It is a 400-meter corridor crossing the red beach. The shape resembles a red ribbon, which is dropped by the Moon Lord (Chinese Love God) to our mortal world.
Climb up to Yixin Pavillion, you would be stunning by a vivid view of boundless rice filed.
It is the southernmost part of the scenic area. When you get to the gallery, you would see a vast red Suaeda Glauca on the south, a boundless reed marsh on the north, and an expanse of rice field. No matter which direction that you would look, you would see a totally different view that touches your heart.
As a seasonal vegetation, Suaeda Glauca sprouts from March and ripens in November, which means that the color would turn purple in October. Therefore, the best time to appreciate the scenery of the Red Beach would be from May to October.
Morning is the best time to appreciate the Red Sea. With the sun rising from the sea level and the tide receding, the dim beach turns to bright red, just like the red carpet gradually displayed, particularly enchanting. If you got to the Red Beach around 4 or 5 p.m., you could see a beautiful sunset under good weather conditions.

By Bullet Train
It is only 45 kilometers away from Panjin to Red Beach National Scenic Corridor, so the first step to get to the Red Beach is choose Panjin as a transit city.
There are two train stations in Panjin and many bullet trains from several main cities, like Beijing, Shenyang, Dalian, Shanghai, etc. Therefore, the bullet train is the first option of transportation, convenient and economical. When you arrive at Panjin, you could take a taxi directly to the Red Beach Scenic Area. It usually takes about 150 yuan per car, or you can carpool with other tourists.
By Car-rental or Self-driving
From Shenyang (230km & 3 hours ): Beijing/Shenyang Expressway - Panhaiying Expressway - Panjin Nan Expressway - Xianghai Avenue (Zhonghua Road) - Red Beach Street - Red Beach National Landscape Corridor
From Dalian (280km & 3.5 hours ): G15 Expressway - Panjin Shugang Expressway - 305 National Highway - Zhonghua Nan Road - Binhai Avenue - Red Beach National Landscape Corridor
