Wanfeng Lake

Wanfeng Lake is located in the southeast of Xingyi City, the capital of Qianxinan Autonomous Prefecture of Guizhou Province. It is an important part of Xingyi National Geopark. It enjoys the reputation of "the lake of among tens of thousands of lakes, top one lake in the southwest of China, a beautiufl landscape painting". Wanfeng Lake, together with Wanfeng Forest and Wanfenghe Valley, is the top three scenic areas in Xingyi, and the beauty given by the nature.



 

Wanfeng Lake Fact 

Wanfeng Lake covers a land of 816 square kilometers, which is equivalent to two Erhai Lakes in Dali, 17 Hongfeng Lakes in Qingzhen, 76 West Lakes in Hangzhou. Wanfeng Lake, with a water storage capacity of 10.8 billion cubic meters and a water surface of 816 square kilometers, ranks among the five largest freshwater lakes in China and is an important water source to the "Pearl River Delta" economic zone.

Wanfeng Lake is a big fresh water lake, not in a round shape but in a long and narrow strip with many forks, with a main channel of 128 kilometers long and the average width of the lake of over 4 kilometers, and it has over 80 islets and peninsulas. The lake interlaces with islets, peninsulas, and harbor, which add great advantages for activities on lake. Around Wanfeng Lake, there are other things for you, such as peak forest, stone forest, karst cave, lush forest and sinkholes or sky holes caused by karst processes. Moreover, many ethnic groups live along the lake, and has cultivated brilliant local cultures.

One of the most popular activities is boat tour or rafting. In Wanfeng Lake, you could take a boat cruise, take a motorboat, taking a raft, or take a sailboat to enjoy yourself.For making it for tourists, there are several piers for taking a boat, and the most famous one is Wanfeng Lake Tourism Pier with great facilities for tourists. Wanfeng Lake has a wide water area with great depth, fresh water of good quality, a high level of dissolved oxygen, suitable temperature, fast water exchange between the middle and lower layers, which is the best place to shoals of fish, thus Wanfeng Lake is abundant in fish stock. Moreover, Wanfeng Lake has a water transparency more than 2 meters, which is great for fishing, and Wanfeng Lake is praised as a paradise for anglers.

China Wanfeng Lake Wild Fishing Grand Prix is a regular national sports event officially approved by the General Administration of Sport of China, which is held once a year. The total area for this competition is 8 square kilometers, including 5 square kilometers of water area. It has facilities like tourist reception center, fishing service center, square, large parking lot, and fishing flatform. And the fishing platform is 7.46 kilometers long and has 1000 standard fishing positions, which is the longest fishing flatform with the most fishing positions in the world at present, certified and awarded by Guinness world record. You could go fishing in here too, and ticket for this activity is 50 yuan.

How to Get to Wanfeng Lake

Wanfeng Lake is located in Xingyi City, the capital of Qianxinan Prefecture. It is located in the junction of Guizhou, Yunnan and Guangxi. It can be reached by driving 35 kilometers to the south of Xingyi City, or drifting down along Malinghe Valley. From Xingyi downtown, you could take taxi or charter a car and drive 35 kilometers to Wanfeng Lake, which takes about 1 hour. Or you could take taxi to Wanfeng Lake from Xingyi Airport. Actually there are almost no public bus heading to Wanfeng Lake, and you are recommended to take taxi or charter a car.
