Yip man, also known as Ip man, is the grandmaster of
Wing Chun Kung fu. He was a famous Chinese martial artist and enjoyed an international fame. Many of his students become very excellent martial artists and among them
Bruce Lee was his favorite.
Master Yip Man contributed his whole life to spread Wing Chun Kung-fu. This
Yip Man Memorial Museum in
Foshan is built to show respect towards Yip Man master as well as spreading Wing Chun Kung-fu culture.
The small memorial holds the grandmaster's desk and chair, wooden dummy, and photos of Wing Chung students from around the globe. In another building, tourists can watch kung fu and lion dance performances, or if they miss those, watch grainy black and white videos of the great-grandfathers (and grandmothers!) of today's action film stars shadow-fight with swords, sticks, and their iron palms.
Yip Man: Martial Master
Yip Man(Ye Wen), a master of Wing Chun Kung Fu, was born in Foshan in 1893. He studied Wing Chun Kung Fu with Chen Huashun and Liang Bi, and his skills became more and more exquisite. In 1941, he had his first batch of students. After he settled in Hong Kong in 1949, he continued to devote himself to the promotion and popularization of Wing Chun Kung Fu, and carried out a series of reforms in teaching methods and training equipment, attracting people at home and abroad to learn martial arts. Yip Man has students all over the world, and the number has reached more than 3 million so far. Bruce Lee, an internationally renowned Kung Fu superstar, is one of Yip Man's most outstanding disciples.
Ip Man(also spelled as Yip Man) is the one who dedicated his whole life to Chinese martial arts. During his life-long process of learning, practising and teaching Wing Chun, Ip Man preserved the spirit of continuous exploration and independent thinking. He not only taught people how to protect themselves from enemy attacks, but also spread spirit of this art.

In addition to being visited by tourists, Yip Man Memorial Hall is also a training base for Wing Chun Kung Fu.
