Basic Information

West Street is the oldest street in Yangshuo with a history of more than 1,400 years. It now becomes a place that mixes the eastern and western culture harmoniously. West Street in Yangshuo has developed into the most prosperous area in Yangshuo.

Building of West Street is primitive simplicity and elegant, and it is in style of north Guangxi in the Ming and Qing dynasties--Chinese style tile, slope roof, white wall, and balcony. This less than 1 km of the street was planked by the stone bricks and in shape of s-shape. The street is filled with all kinds of souvenirs, hotel restaurant, café and bar on both sides are match well of Chinese and western, and almost all the signs are in English and Chinese, even a small hotel, the waiter can speak fluent foreign language for foreign tourists. Visitors stroll leisurely and lazily in the street, all sorts of young man riding a bicycle or carrying a backpack walk through the town to street corners.

West Street is also a place to find quality minority costumes and handicrafts. These are great souvenirs to bring home. Do not forget to bargain in this street. Negotiate with hosts and purchase a good in a low price will make you feel lucky and happy all the day.

There are a lot of pocket-handicrafts in Yangshuo, like bracelets, rings, shawl, scarf...Not outstanding, but very attractive. There are some unique characteristics of the ethnic handicrafts, such as bamboo products, bamboo mat, Yangshuo paperweight, and the most famous Yangshuo Paper Fan. In addition, there is Yangshuo famous native products: four famous fruits (pomelo, kumquat, chestnuts and dried persimmon).

Going to Yangshuo you could also buy some dried persimmon and Lv’s Songhua sugar. West Street is a rendezvous for a wide variety of goods, but in terms of feature, it is similar to many ancient towns actually.
