Simatai Great Wall, Gubei Water Town
Simatai Great Wall
Details:
Pick up from your hotel in downtown Beijing at around 08:00 and driver to Gubei Water Town for about 2.5 hours. Gubei Water Town, located in Miyun County, backed by one of the most beautiful and the most dangerous Great Wall section - Simatai, and is near to Yuanyang Lake reservoir, is a rare ancient village with a combination of the natural landscape of water and mountain in the suburb of Beijing. It looks simple, elegant and picturesque, with rows of houses, bluestone old streets and long hutongs. All show the style of the ancient towns in northern China. The water town is densely covered with rivers lingering. Ancient buildings and houses are built on the water. With fresh air, blue sky and white clouds, green water waves, and towering poplars, it is like a paradise.
And then visit the Simatai Great Wall, the only Ming Dynasty Great Wall in China that retains its original appearance. The entire Great Wall is built on the mountain. It is famous for its strangeness, uniqueness, and danger, with 20 watchtowers, especially the Wangjing Tower is built on the top of a steep peak with an altitude of 1000 meters. It was designated as the "Original Great Wall" by UNESCO. In 2012, the Times of the United Kingdom translated the Simatai Great Wall as "the top of the 25 scenic spots in the world not to be missed".
We will spend about 4 hours at Gubei Water Town and Simatai Great Wall, then drive back to downtown for about 2.5 hours. You will be dropped off at your hotel in the city center of Beijing.
