Chongqing is located at the south part of Sichuan Basin. There are mountains surrounding the city, but the traffic here is not blocked by these mountains. Chongqing has flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xian and other big cities in China, and it also has flights to Nagoya, Bangkok, Seoul, etc.. Now air, railway, highway, waterway form a convenient transportation net in Chongqing.

Air
There are 3 civil airports in Chongqing: Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Chongqing Wangzhou Wuqiao Aiport and Chongqing Qianjiang Zhoubai Airport. Usually, tourists come to Chongqing always land on Jiangbei International Airport. There are flights operate in Jiangbei Airport to more than 40 cities in China.
Jiangbei Airport is 23 km from downtown of Chongqing. From Jiangbei Airport to Jiefangbei is 28 km by taxi. The price is about 50-70Yuan.
To get to the airport you can:

Railways
Chongqing has five truck railways including Chengyu Railway, Chuanqian Railway, XiangYu railway, chongqing yuhuai railway, Suiyu railway. Another Daiwang Railway is from Chongqing to Sanxia Reservoir.
There are three railways stations in Chongqing: Chongqing Railway Station, North Railway Station and South Railway Station.
Highways
There are special-line long-distance buses from Chongqing to its counties, and to Sichuan, Hunan, Guizhou Provinces.
Chongqing Bus Station: bus to Chengdu, Luzhou, Neijiang, Hejiang, Leshan, Guangan, Dazu, Rongxian, Hezhou, Wangzhou, Zhongxian, Kaixian, Fubao, Qianjiang, Nanchuan, etc..

Waterway
There are passenger ships from Chongqing to harbor cities along the middle and lower reaches of Yangtze River.
There is one ship to Yichan each day departing at 22:00, price 220 Yuan/P. The boarding wharf is Chaotianmen No. 4 wharf “Chongqing Port Passenger Depot” (Bus No.401, 102, 120, 262, 272, etc., could take you there). The ship stops at Peiling, Fengdu, Zhongxian, Wangzhou, Yunyang, Fengjie, Wushan, Badong, Guizhou and Maopin.
Urban Transport
Taxi
There are two types of taxi: yellow Gazelle Taxi and white Mondeo Taxi. 80% taxies are yellow Gazelle. The departure fare of yellow taxi is 5 Yuan for 3 km, and the extra distance is 1.8Yuan/Km, while the departure fare of the white one is 7 Yuan for 3 km and extra distance is 2.4 Yuan/km. From 22:00 to 7:00(next day) the fare will be 20% higher than daytime.
Public Bus
Chongqing is one of the few cities which do not have many bicycles.

River-Crossing Cableway
There are two special cableways in Chongqing downtown. The price is 2 Yuan.
Jialing River Cableway: starting from Cangbai Road of Yuzhong District, crossing Jialing River and connecting Jinsha Street of Jiangbei District.
Yangtze River Cableway: Starting from Changan Temple in Yuzhong District, crossing Yangtze River to Shangxin Street in Nanan District.
Light Rail
Only No.2 Light Rail is operating at present. The light rail starts east from Jiaochangkou at the center of Chongqing, extending west to Xinshan Village in Dadukou District.
