Post Time: May 07 2015 By Vicky Lu

While touring to Chengde, except for the Summer Mountain Resort, temples in town are also another must visit attractions in Chengde. The Mountain Resort and its outlying temples together consist of a classic masterpiece of Chinese palace architecture, religious architecture and gardening art. By integrating elements of Han, Tibetan and Mongolian architectural culture and art, the Outlying Temples crystallize the achievements of cultural exchanges and integration among different ethnic groups in the course of development of Chinese architecture. Temples in Chengde are divided into Tibetan temple, Han temple and Han-Tibetan temple according to the architectural style.

Outside the walls of the Chengde Imperial Dwelling Palace (that is, the Mountain Resort), temples in the Mongolian, Han, Tibetan styles are found scattered among the nearby hills. Built on a larger scale than any of the temples of Beijing, they are collectively known as Waibamiao (Eight Outer Temples or the Eight Temples Beyond the Great Wall); In fact, there were originally 11 temples, of which only seven now remain. Travel can broaden my horizon and experience the thing I never do before. I think the important thing during a travel is about what you learn along the way in that journey and to always keep your mind open about what you see before you get to the destination.
