One Day Tour to Wuzhizhou Island in Sanya

Wuzhizhou Island is situated in Haitang Bay, the northern city of Sanya. It is north to Monkey Island and south to Yalong Bay. Wuzhizhou Island enjoys a long coastline with 2.7 km and covers a area of 1.48 square kilometers. This whole island is in irregularly butterfly-shaped, with a length of 1400 m from east to west and width of 1100 meters north to south. It is 30 km away from Sanya downtown and 38 kilometers away from Sanya Phoenix Airport, close to the highway from Haikou to Sanya. Therefore, it enjoys perfect location and convenient transportation.

Wuzhizhou is rich in the tropical island tourism resources. Here you can see all kinds of tropical landscape, including white and soft beach, blue and clear sea, thatched huts. It is entitled "China's first diving base". Underwater world is colorful for there is the most unspoilt coral reef ecology in China. Sea here is crystal clear with the visibility of 6 to 27 meters under the water. It is rich in luminous snail, sea cucumber, lobster, mackerel, sea urchin, pomfret and other kinds of tropical fish. In the south part of the island have well-preserved coral reefs, which make it one of the best diving sites in the world. It is called China's Maldives.

We have spent 3 days in Sanya before we headed to Wuzhizhou Island. So before we went back home, we decide to have a one day tour to Wuzhizhou Island, which is known as the most beautiful island in China. To see more in the island, we must go there in early mooring. As the best to have a round trip in Wuzhizhou Island is by electronic car.

Queuing Up

In the early morning, we took a taxi from our hotel to get to Wuzhizhou Dock and bought the ferry ticket. We had to queue up for a long time before we embark the boat, for there were too many tourists. A little bit anxiety. In addition, it had to walk for a long distance before getting aboard. It took 18 minutes to get to the island by ferry.

Once we got off the ferry, the Lover's Bridge came to our eyes, for it just near to the dock.We got seasickness on the boat, so we decided to take the electronic car to have the round trip instead of walking. Actually, Wuzhizhou Island is quite small. All the main attractions on the island can be reached by walking and takes about 2 hours for a round trip. If you spend more time on the beach or taking photos, it may takes about 3 or 4 hours. But we did not think we still can walk so far after the seasickness.

Buying Ticket of Eletronic Car

Mazu temple, Sun Rock and Lover Island are must see highlights on the island. We just went to visit some normal sites there and did not attend any entertainment activities on sea, because the price is quite expensive. There was a small safe swimming area by a beach, the water is clear. If you are fond of swimming, you can try.

Saw from the top pf Wuzhizhou Island, we caught a beautiful view of the sea and the beach.

After a round tour, we went back to the dock to wait for ferry to back to Sanya downtown. Although the trip to Wuzhizhou Island is a little bit expensive, but it is worth it.

Tips for Wuzhizhou Island Tour

Best time to visit:
From September to April in next year is the best time. During this period of time, the climate is either too hot or too cold and suitable for outdoor activities. Try to avoid June, July and August, it is rainy season and the weather is quite hot. There will be typhoon sometimes.

How to get there:
The only way for arrival and departure in Wuzhizhou Island is by ferry. Tourists can take public bus or taxi from Sanya downtown to get to Wuzhizhou Island dock.

Bus to Wuzhizhou Island dock
► Take Bus 28 from Shuili Building. It departs every 30 minutes from Shuili Building. It takes about 60 minutes for one-way trip and cost 11 yuan.
► Take Bus 23 from Sanya Bus Terminal and get offer at Wuzhizhou Crossing, then transfer to local motorcycle taxi.

About ferry to Wuzhizhou Island: the earliest ferry from Wuzhizhou dock is at 8:30 am and the last one is at 4:00 pm (accordingly to the local weather condition). And the last ferry to back to Sanya downtown is at 5:30 pm. The ferry departs every 20 minutes.
