Dear Tina,
I thank you for the opportunity to comment on our trip to China, which overall was very positive.
►I had intended to sent a long note to Janet, but I will now do this to yourself, copying Janet. I would also welcome any specific question/s you may have. This will assist you when we return again, and hopefully for other tourists who choose to use Top China Travel for their China trips.
►Firstly the pre-trip service received from Janet was excellent. She went out of her way to accommodate our needs, even providing a small refund when the train bookings cleared between Beijing and Qu Fu as we didn't want to travel first class but with the New Year holiday she booked 1st class, but then found 2nd class availability. Again, the hotel she had booked in Beijing (Capital) was taken, so she tried and succeeded to accommodate our needs to be close to the tourist sights, eventually finding a much better hotel. (This became even better when the hotel upgraded our rooms). This is the type of service we expect but rarely get, even in our own country! Many thanks Janet.
Janet organised all transfers we requested, and the drivers were always on time, courteous and good drivers.
Couple of comments on our time in Xi'an:
►Our driver was absolutely excellent (name Jie I think). As is often the case, the traffic was tricky, but he really excelled himself on the way to see the Terra Cotta Warriors. The traffic was very bad as a result of the China President visiting a village on the way. Blockage after blockage, and never once did we feel unsafe, in spite of the manoevering in the traffic he needed to do to get us there (It took about two and a half hours from Xi'an, after we had visited the Art Museum).
►The suggestions made by Janet for first time visitors (us) to Xi'an were very good. (City Wall, Art Museum, the farms and the large Archaeology excavation closer to Xi'an city. These all gave us an interesting view of different aspects of China, and lasting impressions which is all one can hope for after such a short visit to your vast and fascinating country. We would query her again and use her judgement for later visits.
►The Tour Guide (Tony) was okay, flexible and easy going, but occasionally we thought him to be a little lazy. Not too bad, as I'm sure showing many tourists similar places would get a bit boring. However, I'm sure Janet has many tours to arrange and she could not be more helpful.... we will contact her again when we next come to China.
We hope these comments are helpful, and will be recommending TCT (and Janet) to our friends when they visit China.
Please feel free to ask any specific questions you may have, and thank you.
Regards,
Jenny Slatter, Ken Boyd and Judy Hawkes.
