Day 10 (22 Sep) Arrive Kathmandu ( flight).
Arrive Kathmandu from VNS. Meet at the airport and transfer to Himalaya. (D)
Day 11 (23 Sep) Kathmandu
Sightseeing tour of Kathmandu, including the Durbar Square, the Temple of Living Goddess and the Royal Palace. You will also visit Kasthamandap, a temple built from a single tree and from which the city Kathmandu derives its name. Further we will also visit Swoymbhunath stupa, Pashupatnath Temple and Bodnath Monastery. (B/D)
Day 12 (24 Sep) – SIGHTSEEING OF BHAKTAPUR, PATAN, BUNGAMATI AND KHOKANA
This morning we visit the medieval city of Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon. It is situated about 17 kms. East of Kathmandu and was one of the three kingdoms of the Mallas. Here we shall visit the Lion Gate, Picture Gallery, beautiful embellished Golden Gate and 17th century Palace of Fifty fife Windows. The city’s ancient temples and palaces are magnificent examples of Newari craftsmanship with their beautiful carved wooden windows and lattivework, and Bhaktapur’s people are still renowned for their pottery and hand woven fabrics, including the traditional local red and black saris.
Travel to Patan City, an artistic and architectural jewel founded in 250 AD, and previously known as Lalitpur. Sometimes it is known as the “Town with a Thousand Golden Roofs.” Here we shall visit the Durbar Square, Royal Baths, Mahaboudha, Krishna Mandir and Hirayana Mahabihar Temple (The Golden Temple). We also visit a Tibetan Handicraft Centre.
Travel to the typical Newar village of Bungmati. Founded in the 7th century, Bungmati is home to one of the most important Gods of the Kathmandu Valley known as Matsyendranath, the God of Rain and compassion, worshipped equally by Hindus and Buddhists, and accredited by local people with the introduction of rice plantations in the valley.
The rich heritage and relatively unchanging lifestyle of the Newar people is clear to see both in Bungamati and in the nearby village of Khokana, which we also visit. On the southern edge of the Kathmandu valley, the mighty Lichchhavi rulers of Nepal established Khokana in the 7th century, and remains relatively isolated from modern Nepali life. (B/D)
Day 13 (25 Sep) Kathmandu-- Friendship Bridge -- Tingri
Picked up at the national boundary – the Friendship Bridge between China and Nepal. Then transfer Old Tingri. Stay over night in Tingri or similar. (B/D)
Day 14 (26 Sep) Mt. Everest
You will be visiting the Mt. Everest Base Camp after breakfast. On the way to visit Rongbuk Monastery – the highest monastery above the sea level in the world. Rongbuk Monastery is a special monastery of Nyingma Sect, both the monks and nuns lived in the monastery. It is the best place to appreciate the amazing landscape of Mt. Everest. Then we will move to Mt. Everest Base Camp with an altitude of 5200 meters. It is the best place to take a close look of Mt. Everest. Stay overnight at Rongbuk Guanjing Hostel. (B/L)
Day 15 (27 Sep) Shigates
Morning drive to Shigates .On the way, you will visit Sakya Monastery on our way to Xegar. Sakya Monastery is the maim monastery of Sakya Sect with a history of more than 900 years. It is of rich historical and cultural relics, among which the Buddhism scriptures are most noted. Stay at Manasarovar Hotel or similar.(B/L)
Day 16 (28 Sep) Shigates-Lhasa
You will make a visit to the residence of Panchen Lamas - Tashilhunpo Monastery after breakfast. Then drive to Lhasa via Karo-la Glacier and Manla Reservoir and make a visit to Palkhor Monastery in Gyantse on the way, you will be visiting the Yamdrok Lake. Yamdrok Lake is one of the three holy lakes in Tibet and covers an area of 638 square kilometers with an altitude of 4441 meters. Return back to Lhasa. Stay at Manasarovar Hotel or similar. (B/L)
Day 17 (29 Sep) Lhasa
You are going to visit to the highest ancient castle style architectural complex above the sea level – Potala Palace (1 hour). It was the residence of the Tibetan Dalai Lamas, as well as the political, educational and religious center of Tibet. It was built in the 7th century during the regime of Songtsen Gampo. Potala Palace is composed of the White Palace and the Red Palace. The main constructions of the Red Palace are the Buddhism stupas and chapels while the White Palace acted as the residence of Dalai Lamas. (B/L)
In the afternoon, visit to the Jokhang Temple (1 hour) which was widely accepted as the spiritual center of Tibet. The precious Statue of 12-year Sakyamuni (the founder of Buddhism) brought to Tibet by Princess of Chinese Tang Dynasty and the statues of some eminent Buddhists are enshrined in the monastery. There are also exquisite murals which present the history and culture of Tibet collected in the monastery. Then visit the Barkhor Street around the Jokhang Temple.
Day 18 (30 Sep) Lhasa
Full day touring to Norbulinka, Tibet museum, visit the local Tibetan family. (B/L)
Day 19 (1st Oct) Lhasa – Namtso Lake - Lhasa
Morning drive to Yampachen along Qinghai-Tibet Highway in the morning. stop at the Namtso Lake – one of the three holy lakes in Tibet. It is also the highest salt water lake above the sea level and second largest salt water lake in China. You can enjoy the amazing sunset landscapes and the twinkling stars in the sky of Namtso Lake. Return back to Lhasa. (B/L)
Day 20 (2nd Oct) Depart Lhasa -- Chengdu --(Hong Kong for Atifa & Nat)
Atifa and Nathaniel will travel back to Hong Kong today. Departure transfer to airport for flight from Lhasa to Chengdu, upon arrival, (Atifa and Nathaniel) will transit on connecting flight to Hong Kong.
Upon arrival, (Clint & Glenda) will be met and transferred to the Minshan Lhasa Hotel. The half day tour to Jingli Culture area including Kuanzhaixiangzi, and Wenshu Temple. (B/L)
Day 21 (3rd Oct) Chengdu
(Clint & Glenda) Morning half day tour to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding, afternoon half day tour to Sanxingdui Archeological Museum where you can see some of the oldest remains in the world. (B/L)
Day 22 (4th Oct) Chengdu
You will be taken to Leshan, visit the largest stone carved sitting Buddha in the world -Leshan Giant Buddha and appreciate its grandiosity by a boat trip. Then drive back to Chengdu to see the Huanglongxi Old Town. Return back to Chengdu. (B/L)
Day 23 (5th Oct) Chengdu- Honglong - Jiuzhaigou
In the morning, transfer to airport for morning flight to Jiuzhaigou. Then continue your trip to Huanglong (about 2-3hours), a national famous for its Terrace shaped highland lakes,
tour the site by hiking up and down the mountain. Drive to Jiuzhaigou. Stay three nights at New Jiuzhaigou Hotel ( 4 star) (B/L/D)
Day 24 (6th Oct) Jiuzhaigou
Full day tour to Jiuzhaigou national park, including a visit to Shuzheng Valley and Zezhawa Valley where you can see multi-colored Lake, grass land, magnificent waterfall and Tibetan villages. (B/L/D)
Day 25 (7th Oct) Jiuzhaigou -- Chengdu -- Hong Kong
After breakfast, transfer to the airport and fly back to Chengdu. Self transit on connecting flight to Hong Kong. (B)
