Brief Introduction of Dali Airport
Dali Airport is located in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture, 13 km from Dali urban area, with a total area of 168.36 hectares. The Airport covers an area of 2,525 acres. The runway is 2,600 meters long. It is a 4C-class airport, suitable for landing the Boeing 737, Airbus 320 and the smaller aircraft. The elevation fo the Airport is 2155.4m, and belongs to plateau airport.
Dali Airport is a local regional airport, and also the first high-altitude, high-fill airport in China. The original topography here is very complicated. Tarmac area is 19,550 square meters with 10 gates. The terminal building is of 4200 square meters. It used to have navigable cities such as Kunming, Xishuangbanna, Baoshan, Tianjin, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guiyang, Guangzhou, Beijing, Shanghai and so on. In 2011, the airport passenger throughput reached 274,486 passengers, cargo and mail throughput reached 952.9 tons, and aircraft movements reached 3559 vehicles.
The completion of the construction of the airport has great effect on the introduction of capital and technology, enhancing information exchange and promoting the development of tourism, promoting economic growth as well as statewide economic revitalization in western Yunnan. And it is also play an important role on improving Yunnan air transportation network.
Development
On August 2, 1992, the State Council and Central Military Commission approved the airport construction project. On March 13, 1993 the State Planning Commission approved the project. The airport started construction on 1 July 1993, and officially opened to traffic on November 28, 1995.
Expansion began in 2005. The area of the airport increased 1014.89 acres in the original area. Dali Airport expansion project include: the new 250 × 118.50 m apron for four aircraft; a 144 meters long, 18 meters wide, both sides of the road 3.5 m wide vertical contact road; a new 10,050 square meters large tow-floor terminal, supporting the construction of three boarding bridges, light-current system, and configuring with the security equipment, baggage handling equipment, etc.; New 440 square meter freight stations, 1,250 square meters large special garage, 1085 square meters large firehouse and 253 square meters large the fire pump and so on. After the expansion, Dali Airport with meed to the target of the throughput of 1.1 million passengers, a typical peak hour passenger handling capacity 864 people / hour, the typical peak hour movements eight vehicles / hour, cargo throughput of 2,828 tons / year in 2015.
