Located in the prefecture of Nanping, Fujian Province, southeast of China, Mount Wuyi contains the largest and most representative example of a largely intact forest encompassing the diversity of the Chinese Subtropical Forest and the South Chinese Rainforest. It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for cultural, scenic, and biodiversity values since 1999.
Mount Wuyi is a mountain range that covers a total area of 99,975 hectares. It is so large that it is divided into four core parts: the Nine-Bend Stream Ecological Protection Area with an area of 36,400 hectares in the center, flanked by and the Wuyishan National Scenic Area (7,000 hectares) to the east and the Wuyishan National Nature Reserve (56,527 hectares) to the west. While the fourth part, the Protection Area for the Remains of Ancient Han Dynasty (48 hectares) is located in a separate area about 15 km to the southeast of the others parts. Therefore, it may need three or more days if you want to see all the area of the mountain range.
There is no cableway in Wuyi Mountain area. But there is shuttle bus running between the core parts of the mountain area. And Hiking in Mount Wuyi area is a more common way to see the less difficulty but can enjoy a lot of beautiful views.
Tickets are priced for 1 day, 2 day, 3 days, a week, a month or a year. You can purchase the one that meet your needs. The longer duration you stay for, the higher price the ticket is. Normally, If you would like to enjoy more beautiful scenery in Wuyi Mountain, 3 days is enough. As there is no cableway in the mountain area and the mountain here is not so high and rugged, hiking is the best way for sightseeing here. Here I would like to introduce a few hiking routes for visitors to see the most beautiful parts of the mountain area, so that you would enjoy the essential beautiful without too much walking.
Hiking Route 1: Tianyou Peak - Taoyuan Cave - Xingcun Village (raft pier)
Duration: 2 to 3 hours
Travelers can get into from the ticket checking entrance of Tianyou Peak. Then just hike along the mountain path with other tourists to up to the mountain. There are road signs on the way. If you are not sure how to go, you ask the staff in the park. But if you book hiking tour from TCT, our tour guide will accompany with you and do not worry about getting missing. After up to the mountain, you can continue to Taoyuan Cave. After have a short tour in Taoyuan Cave, turn right to walking along Nine-Bend Stream to get to Xingcun Village. When you see a bridge, Xingcun Village will not be far. When you get to Xingcun Village, you can either take rafting from the raft pier to get to Wuyi Palace take shuttle buses to get to other core scenic areas of Wuyi Mount.
Hiking Route 2: Huxiao Rock - Yixiantian
Duration: 2 to 3 hours
The difficulty of this tour is not hard. And there are road sign along the way. Do not have to worry about getting lost. Both Huxiao Rock and Yixiantian are famous scenic spots in this place.

Hiking Routes 3: Dahongpao Tea Trees – Water Curtain Cave
Dutation: 1.5 hours to 2 hours
This hiking tour Big Red to shuiliandong (or shuiliandong to Big Red) time of 1.5 hours to 2 hours, all walking in the least difficulty. Maybe the two attractions (Dahongpao Tea Trees and Water Curtain Cave) are the most boring, but scenery along the road is the most beautiful. There are also signs of hiking trails on the road. Do not have to worrying about getting lost.
These three hiking routes are the most recommended ones and they are less crowded. There are other hiking routes, like Dangrang Village - Dawang Peak - Wuyi Palace which takes about three to four hours, is another treking routes. But there is no road signs along the road. You must hire a local tour guide if you choose to hiking by this route.
