It was our first time to have this Great Wall hiking tour. We needed firstly climbing up to a mountain to reach the Wall. After few hours climbing, we got to the Wall. Quietly standing there, no disturbs from others, only the blue sky and white clouds companied with the zig-zag Great Wall, AMAZING!
From Gubeikou to Jinshanling, we needed to go through three parts: Gubeikou, Panlongshan, Jinshanling. Between Panlongshan and Jinshanling, there was a military area which was forbidden to go through so that we had to bypass.
Along the Great Wall, we felt walking in the history. The brick on the Wall looked at us curiously, liking we were invaders to interrupt their life.
On the way, we passed Panlongshan Great Wall. Panlongshan located in the middle part of Gubeikou Great Wall System. It was a part often experiencing wars. It connected Wohushan, Shuiguan, Tiemenguan, and Cicheng together, forming into the defence code of Guberkou Great Wall system. Panlongshan Great Wall now is in 5km long, with more then 40 towers. Among the towers, the most famous is “General Tower (将军楼)” and “24 Eyes Tower (24眼楼)”.
After a distance hiking, we arrived at 24 Eyes Tower. The road after it was forbidden to walk (a sign there told us to stop because it was a military area). At that time, we should hiked down the Wall from a small route. When we climbed up to the Great Wall from the bypass, we entered into Jinshanling Great Wall section.
Jinshanling Great Wall offered a panorama view for visitors. The Wall built along the ranges of mountains, suitable for hiking and climbing. The present Jinshanling Part was rebuilt in Ming Dynasty. General Qi jiguang in Min Dynasty was in charge of the renovation project.
