Laolongtou (Old Dragon Head) and Shanhaiguan Pass are both located in Qinhuangdao City. Laolongtou, the start point of the Great Wall, is stretched into Bohai Sea.

Laolongtou which means Old Dragon Head is a site located in the south side of Shanhaiguan Pass. It is the entrance of the eastern Ming Great Wall of China. There is a stone city as an entrance to the Bohai Sea. This stone city stretches 23 meters into the sea like a dragon drinking water, hence its name.
Shanhaiguan Pass or Shanhai Pass is called as the "First Pass under Heaven". This great architecture is located in Qinhuangdao as a part of this city. In 1961, Shanhaiguan became a site of China First Class National Cultural Site. With the other two famous Great Wall passes Jiayuguan and Juyongguan, they are three major pauses of the Great Wall of China.
Hiking length: from Laolongtou to Shanhaiguan section, the hiking length is about 5km. The sea connects with the Great Wall, along the road, the countryside scenery offers more joys when hiking on this route. The hiking time including resting and eating will be around 8 - 10 hours.
How to arrange the hiking tour: for budget travelers, train between Beijing and Qinhuangdao is the best choice. The Beijing-Qinhuangdao railway offers more than ten trains per day.
Camping: Laolongtou and Shanhaiguan Southern Gate areas are the best places to camp for appreciating sunset and sunrise.
