West Lake

Lingyin Temple

Located to the northwest of West Lake, Lingyin Temple, also known as Yunlin Temple, is one of the ten most famous ancient Buddhist monasteries in China.


The existent temple was rebuilt during the 19th century. The Hall of Mahavira (great hero) inside the temple is 33.6 meters in height, and the statue of Sakyamuni (563? - 483 BC) in the Hall, was carved out of 24 pieces of camphor wood. In front of the Hall are two pagodas of rock which were built in 960 AD of the Song Dynasty.

Surrounded the temple are majestic peaks and sky-reaching ancient trees; it is really a tourist attraction that can offer you appealing places of historic interest, cultural relics as well as agreeable natural scenery with woods, flowers, springs, etc.

Six Harmonies Pagoda

Located on the Yuelun Hill, to the south of West Lake, the Six Harmonies Pagoda, under protection as a key national cultural relic today, was constructed first in 970 during the Northern Song Dynasty to suppress the tidewaters. Today the brick-and-wood structure of the Six Harmonies Pagoda remains largely intact.


In the pagoda there are more than two hundred sites of brick carvings, which feature a wide range of motifs, including megranate, lotus, phoenix, peacock, parrot, lion, kylin and so on. These brick carvings are rare material proofs of Chinese ancient architectures.

With a view of Qiantang River, the pagoda presents a quiet image of age-old majesty. Looking out from the top of the pagoda, sightseers can see as far as the misty horizon, enjoying the unforgettable, breathtaking scenery.

Wuzhen Water Town

With a history of over 1,300 years, only 80 km to the northeast of Hangzhou, Wuzhen Water Town is one of the 4 grand Ancient Towns of Yangtze, which still well preserved its late Qing Dynasty style layout and water system - the whole town is built along the rivers, while the river courses crisscrossed in the town. Water and Town, Wuzhen is a particularly elegant blend of nature and culture. Hu Qingyu's Traditional Pharmacy which locates at the foot of Wushan hill in the beautiful city of Hangzhou is the only state-level professional one in China.


Built on the foundation of a group of old buildings of Hu Qing Yu Tang traditional Chinese Pharmaceutical Factory, the museum presents to visitors a style of antique architecture besides a treasury of traditional Chinese medical science and technology.
