Geographical Location
Jiayuguan City is located at the northwest part of Gansu Province and the middle of the Hexi Corridor, with Jiuquan City at its east, 776km away from Lanzhou, and Yumen City to its west. At the south of Jiayuguan City, there is the Qilian Mountain Range which is perennially covered with snow. And north to the city is desolate gobi desert. The altitude of the Jiayuguan City is between 1412 m to 2722 m and 1462m in the center of the city. Oasis distributes between the altitude of 1450-1700 m.

Tips for Jiayuguang Weather
•Best time to visit Jiayuguan
Each year from May to Oct. is the best time to visit Jiayuguan City. With the temperate dry climate, the difference of the annual temperature is big and the average annual temperature is around 6℃. January in winter is the coldest month of a year with the lowest temperature of -28.6℃, while September in summer is the hottest month with the highest temperature of 38℃. The early spring of Jiayuguan is very cold. So, it is from the late spring to autumn is the best period for the Jiayuguan tour.
In the middle of September, Jiayuguan City holds International Gliding Festival, and there will be wonderful performances and events which you should never miss.
Each October is the beast time to climb Qiyi Glacier. You could take your sunglass and sun scream; wear your climbing boot to explore the glacier.
The Spring Festival in Jiayuguan is very lively, but it is too cold during this period and you should prepare well for the cold weather.
•Try to Avoid domestic travel seasons
Try to plan your Shanghai tour to avoid the peak holidays. Because they are popular with Chinese tourists, Shanghai attractions become more crowded in these periods.
The most crowded seasons in China are Chinese Spring Festival (usually in late Jan or early Feb.), International Labor Day (May 01 to 03) and National Day (Oct 01-07). Spring Festival and the National Day golden week are the most crowded time for travelling.
