How to Get to Jiuzhaigou from Chengdu

Taking high-speed train to Jiuzhai Valley is the most convenient way to get to Jiuzhai Valley from Chengdu, which takes about 2 hours. You can easily get to Huanglong Jiuzhai Station from Chengdy by high-speed train. There are high-speed trains from Chengdu to Jiuzhai Valley from 6:00 to 19:00 every day, which is very convenient to tourists. Taking airplane, you will need to take more time to get to the airport in Chengdu and waiting. Taking high-speed train, you will spend less time on the waiting and getting to the train station. After arriving at the Huanglong Jiuzhai Station, you need to take the shuttle bus to the Jiuzhai Valley Scenic Area, which takes about 2 hours.

By Air

Currently, the fastest way to get to Jiuzhaigou is to get to Chengdu and Chongqing first, and transfer to Jiuzhaigou Huanglong Airport. Generally speaking, there are many flights from major cities to Chengdu and Chongqing. And there is only one flight from Chengdu to Huanglong each day. And sometimes there is no flight from Chengdu to Jiuzhai Valley. If you want to take airplane to Jiuzhai Valley, please be aware of that the limited flight and better arrange your time. It takes about an hour to fly from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou. Chongqing Jiangbei Airport has only a few flights to Jiuzhaigou each day, and the flying time is about 1 hr.

Jiuhuang Airport is located in Songpan County, 88 km away from Jiuzhaigou Valley and 43 km from Huanglong National Park. It was opened to navigation on September 28, 2003. Except for Chengdu and Chongqing, it has also opened direct flights to Xian, Kunming, Zhangjiajie, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Shanghai in peak season. There are shuttle buses from the airport to Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong.

By Bus

You can also go to Jiuzhaigou from Chengdu by bus. The ticket can be purchased at Xinnanmen Bus Station and Chadianzi Bus Station. You’d better buy the ticket one day in advance. It is about 7 to 9 hrs from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou by bus.

From Mianyang to Jiuzhaigou, you can buy ticket at Mianyang Pingzheng Bus Station. The buses depart every morning, driving for about 8 hrs.

If you do not catch the bus to Jiuzhaigou Valley, you can go to Jiuzhaigou County first. There are buses to Jiuzhaigou County each day from 6：30－12：00. Jiuzhaigou County is 40 km away from Jiuzhaigou Valley, and there are local buses between them.

There are 3 buses from Dujiangyan to Jiuzhaigou each day. Without traffic jams, it usually takes 8 to 9 hrs to get to Jiuzhaigou.

Note: currently, there is no bus from Chengdu, Mianyang, Jiuzhaigou to Huanglong National Park, you should take bus to Jiuzhaigou, Songpan, Chuanzhu Temple first, and then transfer to Huanglong National Park.

There are 2 station in Songpan County, one is Songpan Bus Station, the other is Aba Transportation Company Station. There are buses to Chengdu, Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong each day.

Chuanzhushi Town located at the crossroads of Songpan, Hongyuan, Jiuzhaigou and Huanglong, is a traffic hub. It is convenient to transfer from here.

Self-Driving Routes

Jiuzhaigou is accessible from both west and east lines. The west line starts from Chengdu, passing by Dujiangyan, Wenchuan, Maoxian, Songpan to Jiuzhaigou. The whole jounery is 440km. The east line is from Chengdu, Mianyang, Jiangyou, Pingwu, Jiuzhaigou County to Jiuzhaigou Valley. It is 480km.
