Kunming Railway Station is located at Panlong District of Kunming City. It was opened to public since 1958, and is the first-class railway station under the jurisdiction of the Kunming Railway Bureau. It is the hub of Chengdu-Kunming Railway, Kunming Railway, Nanning-Kunming Railway and Shanghai-Kunming Railway. Kunming has six waiting platform and a total of 12 station tracks.

History and Development
Kunming Railway Station is the intersection of Guizhou-Kunming Railway, Chengdu-Kunming Railway, Nanning-Kunming Railway, Kunming-Yuxi Railway, Kunming Railway, It is the special-grade station in Yunnan.
At early 1980s, Kunming Railway Station just operated 6 passenger trains to the direction of Beijing, Shanghai, Guiyang, Panzhihua, Zhongyi Village and Jinma Village. At that time, the railway station lacked of transport capacity and ability which limited the number of trains. The train ticket was very hard to purchase at that time.

Railways
Now there are 12 railways from Kunming to Chengdu, Guiyang, Hekou, Naning and inner Yunnan railways. The Yunnan-Vietnam Railway was built in 1910 which connecting Kunming, South Yunnan and Vietnam. From 1966 to 1970, Guiyang-Kunming Railway and Chengdu-Kunming Railway were built and opened to traffic. The last railway, Nanning-Kunming Railway was opened to traffic and connected the Yunnan railway with national railway network.
