Qufu, a city in Shandong famous for the Confucian culture, is one of the must visit destination if you have a China cultural tour including Shandong Province. It is not a big city with convenient transportation system. Here are some tips on how to get to Qufu for travelers who want to visit there.
There is no airport in Qufu City. The nearest city of it is Jining Qufu Airport which is built in Jineng City. About 71.8 km away from Qufu. Now, the airport has launched air route between Jining City and Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Shenyang, Wuhan, Chongqing, Kunming, Qingdao, Xiamen.
Although it is the only airport which can fly into Qufu, there is no direct shttle bus between airport and Qufu. The only way to get Qufu from the airport is: taking the shuttle bus to Jining City. And then, taking the shuttle bus from Jining Coach Station to Qufu Coach Station. But this choice is only suitable for backpackers.
According to the general travel route in Shandong Province, most tourists prefer to visit Shandong by the route Jinan-Tai’an-Qufu. So the recommended way to get Qufu by air is firstly taking a flight to Jinan, and then, booking a private tour to visit Jinan-Tai’an (Mt. Taishan)-Qufu city.
There are two railway stations in Qufu. One is operated normal train, the other one is operated high-speed train. These two are in a distance of 12km. Most tourists like to enjoy the train trip from Jinan or Tai’an to Qufu.
The largest coach station is Qufu Coach Station. Coach lines to different cities in Shandong or outside Shandong can be found here. There is another coach station which can set shuttle buses to Tai’an, Zhaozhuang, Heze, etc.
Public Bus: There are 7 public buses routes in Qufu city. 1 Yuan per person.
Taxi: Taking taxi in Qufu is more convenient. The original charge is 2km/5 Yuan, more than 2km, 1km/2 Yuan. Main attractions in Qufu can be reached by taxi around 10 Yuan.
Local Transportation: Rickshaw is a common transportation vehicle in Qufu. Because Qufu is not a large city, it is a special experience to choose rickshaw trip. When on the way, you can enjoy the city scenery and see the local lifestyle. Before get on the rickshaw, bargain first.
