Sanya Phoenix International Airport is located in 11 kilometers northwest Sanya, the China's southernmost city. Relying on strong operation under the HNA Group, the Phoenix airport has undergone enormous changes. From 2004 to 2010, the average annual growth rate of passenger throughput is more than 25%. Passenger throughput is more than 6 million people in 2008 and nearly 8 million passengers in 2009.

Phoenix Airport is the domestic trunk airport covering an total area of nearly seven thousand acres. The runway is 3400 meters long and 60 meters wide. The concrete pavement flexural strength is 4.5MPa. the down direction is mainly from west to east. It meets the requirements of the taking off and landing of Boeing 747, Airbus 340 and other large aircraft at full load. Parking apron can park 41 large- and medium-sized aircrafts at the same time. The total area of domestic terminal of Sanya Phoenix Sanya Airport is now 42,300 square meters and the area of the international terminal is 10,000 square meters. There are 7 boarding bridges.

Sanya Phoenix International Airport was completed in June 1994 and officially opened to traffic on July 1. The flight normal rate reached 99.8%. At present, there are 168 routes, of which 130 are domestic routes, 35 international routes and 3 regional routes. The airport is connected to 106 cities at home and abroad, including 59 domestic cities and 3 regions three cities, 44 international cities.
