About Lhasa: Lhasa, whose name means 'the Land of Gods' in Tibetan, is the capital of Tibet Autonomous Region. Due to its sufficient sunshine annually, it is also famed as 'the Sunshine City'. It is the center of Tibet's political, economic, cultural and religious activities.
From April to October should be the best time to visit Lhasa. During these period, visitors can see the most beautiful side of this place.
Shanghai - Lhasa Flights
There are two pairs of direct flihgts traveling between Shanghai and Lhasa, wtih a short stop in Chongqing or Xian before finishing the whole fly trip. It takes about 6 to 7 hours on the plane. The direct fligt leaving for Lhasa is usually quite expensive and hot sale. It is suggested to book as early as possible. The two flights are operated by China Eastern Airlines and Tibet Airlines.

►Flight from Shanghai to Lhasa
There are two direct flights from Shanghai to Lhasa. One departs from Shanghai Pudong Airport at 07:10, with one short stop in Xian before finishing the fly trip. The other departs from Shanghai Hongqion Airport at 14:40, with one stop in Chongqing city. It takes about 6 hours and 45 mintute on the plane.
►Flight from Lhasa to Shanghai
The two flights from Lhasa to Shanghai all depart from a Gonggar International Airport (JZH) and then arrive at Pudong airport or Hongqiao airport. One departs at 8:00 am with one stop in Chongqing City, the other sets off at 15:15 with one short stop in Xian. It takes about 6 hours for the whole trip.

Domestic Travel High Season
The most crowded seasons in China are Chinese Spring Festival (usually in late Jan or early Feb.), International Labor Day (May 01 to 03) and National Day (Oct 01-07). Spring Festival and the National Day golden week are the most crowded time for travelling. Try not to travel to Lhasa during these time period, as the flights tickets are hard to buy.
