Wuwei, located at the middle part of Gansu Province, East Part of Hexi Corridor, connecting Lanzhou at east, Xining at west, Yinchuan and Inner Mongolia at east, is a important transportation hub and middle city in west of Gansu Province. Wuwei City has modern and developed tourism traffic. The whole region’s transport is based on highway, rail transport. Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway, Gantang-Wuwei line runs through the territory, and 312 National Road runs through three counties and one city in the region. The most convenient way to Wuwei for tourists is by train, and the most quickest way is flying to Lanzhou and then taking bus to Wuwei.
Air
Now, Wuwei do not have airport. The nearest airport is Jinchang Jinchuan Airport. However, the flights to Jinchuan are limited. It is recommended to fly to Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport frist and then take bus to Wuwei. Lanzhou Zhongchuan Airport is a hub airport in Gansu Province, and one of the largest aviation hubs in the northwest China. It is now opened nearly 60 routes to the large domestic cities.
It is about 70 km from Lanzhou downtown to Zhognchuan Airport, for about 1 hr. There are airport shuttle buses and taxies which can take you to the airport. The Airport Shuttle bus runs between airport and the railway station. At the opposite of the railway station is the passenger station, where you can take bus to Wuwei.
Railway
Wuwei has two railway stations. Wuwei South Railway station is located in Wunan Township, 13 km from Wuwei City. It is the largest train marshalling station west of Lanzhou City, and also the connection point of Lanzhou-Xinjiang Railway and Wuwei-Zhongwei Railway. Wuwei Railway Station is one of the normal railway station located in Wuwei City. The train from Lanzhou, Xian, Yinchuan, Beijing, Shanghai and other places are passing by Wuwei South Railway Station or Wuwei Railway Station.
Highway
National Highway 312 passes through Wuwei. The Highway transport is quite convenient. The Wuwei Passenger Station, located at Nanguangxi Road, is the first large bus station entering Hexi Corridor. It has 90 buses departed every day. The buses are mainly running to Lanzhou, Xining, Urumqi, Dunhuang, Baiyin, Yinchuan and so on.
