Yichang Transport

Thanks to its advantageous geographic location, Yichang has been defined as a distributing center, an important trading port and a transportation hub along the Yangtze River linking west Hubei and east Sichuan since ancient times. For a very long time, it has been renown as "Gateway to the Three Gorges", and "Throat between Sichuan and Hubei".

Intercity Traffic

Air
Yichang Sanxia Airport is located in Xiaoting District, Yichang City, 26 km away from the city center and 55 km from the Three Gorges Dam. It is north to Yihuang Highway, south to the Yangtze golden waterway and east to Jiaozhi railway. It connects with Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Kunming, Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Enshi, Changsha, Zhangjiajie, Wuhan, Nanjing, Xi'an, Zhengzhou, Wenzhou, Nanning, Xiamen, Shantou, Huangshan etc. International flights to South Korea, Japan and other regions are planned to open in the future.

Railway
There are two railway stations in Yichang. The new East Railway Station operates the most trains. The East Railway Station is 10 kilometers from the city center. The three-storey terminal building of the East Railway Station allows a capability of 6,000 passengers at the same time. This railway station was built in 1974 and repaired in 2002 on halfway up a mountain. There are direct trains leaving for Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Wuxi, Xian, Taiyuan etc.

Highway
The long-distance passenger cars can directly access to parts of the province, but also can east to Hunan, Hubei, Anhui, Zhejiang, south to Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places. There are tour buses to many attractions in Yichang, such as Three Gorges Dam, Gezhou Dam, etc.

Cruise Ship
There are ships departs to Chongqing, Wanzhou, Fengcheng, Shanghai etc. Travelers can take the cruise ship to appreciate the beautiful scenery along Yangtze River.

City Traffic

Public Bus
Buses developed very well in Yichang. Yichang now has more than 200 bus lines. There are tour and sightseeing buses to take visitors to tour some of the tourist attractions in Yichang.

Taxi
Xiamen has a large amount of taxies which spread from the noisy commercial district to remote and quiet residential district. The starting price is 6 yuan (inside 2 km), and 1.4 yuan per kilometer beyond 2 km. After 23:00 at night, the fare is going to be high than in the day.
