China has some of the world’s most spectacular mountains. The mountains in
Zhangjiajie and Yellow Mountain in
Huangshan City are among the most famous. Despite the hordes of tourists, the places remind extremely attractive, especially for the mountain climbing enthusiasts. If you plan a China tour including both Zhangjiajie and Huangshan, and look for the best mode of transport between the two cites, here below is the guidance and useful tips.
Where is Zhangjiajie
Located in the Northwest Hunan province, central China, Zhangjiajie is approximately 1055km (656miles) from Huangshan, in South Anhui Province, East China.
Traveling from Zhangjiajie to Huangshan can be a bit torturous. And the situation is complicated, as there are no direct buses, trains or flights available now between the two cities. However, if you accept to transfer from a train (flight) to another, the problems will be solved.
Zhangjiajie - Huangshan by Train
There are several options if you prefer to go to Huangshan from Zhangjiajie by train. And the fastest and most convenient way is to take a train from Zhangjiajie to Changsha first, then get to Changsha South Train Station by metro and transfer to a bullet train to Huangshan. Or take train from Zhangjiajie to Shangrao (上饶) in Jiangxi Province first, where you can transfer to a bullet train to Huangshan.
- Option 1: Zhangjiajie – Changsha - Huangshan (about 7 hours)
- Option 2: Zhangjiajie – Shangrao – Huangshan (about 13 hours)

Zhangjiajie Train Station - The biggest railway station in Northwest Hunan Province, it is built in 2008 and located in Guanliping, Yongding District, a walking distance from the Central Bus Station. You can take bus No.5, 6 and 9 from the city center to the railway station. Have more transport information on the page:
Zhangjiajie train station to the National Park
Changsha Train Station and Changsha South Train Station: They are 10km apart. The Subway No.2 is running between each other.
Shangrao Train Station: Located in Lingxi Street Office, Xinzhou District, it connects with 323 cities and towns in the country by train. Take Bus No.6, 7, 15, 16, 17 and 19 to get to the train station.
Huangshan North Train Station: In the north of Tunxi District, it is 10km from city center, and 30km from Yellow Mountain Scenic Area.

- If choosing the first option, you need to get out of the Changsha Train Station after arrival, and take Subway No.2 to get to Changsha South Train Station (20 minutes), for the high speed train to Huanshan.

►Flight + Train via Hangzhou
Since there are not direct flights from Zhangjiajie to Huangshan by this moment, travel advisors of TCT suggest you to make a transfer in
Hangzhou. You may take a flight from Zhangjiajie to Hangzhou first (weekly flights with journey time of 2 hours). Enjoy a
trip in Hangzhou. Thereafter, take a bullet train from
Hangzhou East Railway Station to Huangshan North Train Station. There are 23 trains running from two places. It departs from 06:52 am to 21:29. The travel time is 1.5 to 2 hours.
