A unique Hakka culture of a landmark "symbol"
Tai'an Building is located in Longgang Village, Dabu County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, and is an extremely rare stone square building in China. Tai'an Building has a long history, majestic scale, unique style, exquisite design, it is rich in Hakka cultural connotations, unique architectural form, known as the Hakka unique culture of the castle, the temple of history.
Tai'an Building and Hua’e Building are both Hakka walled houses in Dabu County, Meizhou, and are one of the representatives of traditional Chinese walled house architecture. Tai'an Building was built in the Qing Dynasty, more than two hundred years ago, and its most distinctive features are its square shape and stone walls, which make it unique among all the other roundhouses in Meizhou. Hua’e Building was built in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago, and is different from Tai'an Lou in that one is round and the other is square.
Tai'an Building in Dabu is a masonry and wood structure building, sitting in the northeast to the southwest, in a quadrilateral shape, 49 meters long and 52.6 meters wide, with a wide door ping and a water pond at the entrance. Building height of 11 meters, divided into three layers.
The outer wall of the first two floors is a stone wall, and the outer and inner walls of the third floor are brick walls. The first to third floor around the inward front corridor, the first corridor of the columns for the upper wood under the stone, the second and third floor for the wooden columns; the third floor of the front row of the center hall with an altar, in order to prevent external danger, in addition to the front corridor, but also has a back corridor. The first and second floors do not have windows, the third-floor open windows and have a gun sight, the whole building only 1 gate access, the door plate set with thick iron, the top of the gate has a cistern for fire extinguishing.
The shortcomings of the square building are the four corners of the room is dark, poor ventilation, close to the wooden staircase, noise interference. Tai'an building in the architectural design to make up for these shortcomings, and the general difference between the square building, is that the third floor also has a special outer ring-shaped defense corridor, the four corners of the stairway is bright and spacious. Climb the third floor of the outer ring-shaped corridor, looking out from the window, the building in front of the scenery as far as the eye can see.

The first floor of Tai'an Building is decorated with the history of Hakka development, Hakka production, living utensils and Hakka costumes, festivals and activities utensils exhibition area, displaying Hakka folk customs, production, living, costumes, Guangdong Han music and other objects and pictures, a detailed record of the development of Hakka people in Dabu over the past thousand years, production and living conditions.
On the second floor, there are the exhibition areas of ancient cultural relics of Dabu, the life of the master of Tai'an Building, Hakka celebrities, Hakka houses, famous temples and sites, Hakka rare and precious cultural resources, as well as ceramics culture, calligraphy and paintings of 100 generals of the founding of the country, the life stories of 108 generals of Dabu, Hakka overseas Chinese, famous tea culture, Hakka cuisine culture and other exhibition areas.
