Qingyuan Gulong Gorge

Visiting Qingyuan Gulong Gorge is a fun and exciting way to explore the natural beauty of Guangdong province. It is located in Qingxin District of Qingyuan City, about 68 kilometers from Guangzhou, the provincial capital. It is situated at the junction of Guangqing Expressway, Qinglian Expressway (Xuguan Expressway), and Shanzhan Expressway, making it easily accessible by car or bus.

What are the highlights of Qingyuan Gulong Gorge?

Qingyuan Gulong Gorge is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction, a national sports tourism demonstration base, an international rafting venue, and a designated track by the General Administration of Sport of China. It boasts a 3000-hectare subtropical rainforest, with a forest coverage rate of 99.1%. The negative oxygen ion concentration is as high as 160,000/cm³, making it a great place to relax and refresh.

The scenic area has developed five major project groups based on the unique terrain of the gorge, the forest, and the waterfall: Cloud Sky Glass, Sky Adventure, Waterfall Group, International Rafting, and Internet Celebrity Valley. It has also obtained 12 world record certifications, earning the reputation of "King of Rafting, King of Glass", and "New King of High-altitude Sightseeing".

Cloud Sky Glass: This is the world's first glass sightseeing combination that integrates a suspended glass platform, a glass suspension bridge, a glass plank road, a glass mirror, a glass live broadcast room, and a glass sky mirror. The six glass projects are suspended at the top of the mountains and waterfalls, with a total length of 1300 meters and an area of 12,000 square meters. The glass platform has a suspended span of 72 meters, ranking first in the world. The glass bridge is the widest waterfall-viewing glass bridge in the world, with a width of 6.8 meters. The glass live broadcast room is the world's highest suspended live broadcast room, with a vertical height of 263 meters. The glass sky mirror is the latest internet celebrity product, with a high-reflective glass of 200 square meters.

Sky Adventure: This is a thrilling aerial adventure that connects with the Cloud Sky Glass and flies over the waterfall. It has challenged the world record with a vertical drop of 263 meters, creating the vertical limit of outdoor aerial crossing. The project was jointly designed by experts from France, Thailand, and China. It starts from the top of the waterfall and glides to the rafting starting point, with a crossing distance of 3.13 kilometers. It has 19 invincible viewing platforms, 13 obstacle challenges, 9 magnificent waterfalls, 5 aerial glides, and 2 vertical descents. The final highlight is a 35-meter-high jungle bungee jump.  

Waterfall Group: This is a group of nine waterfalls that form a spectacular landscape along the gorge. The waterfalls have different shapes and sizes, such as the curtain waterfall, the bead curtain waterfall, the flying waterfall, the rainbow waterfall, and the dragon waterfall. The most impressive one is the Gulong Waterfall, which is 108 meters high and 80 meters wide, making it the largest waterfall in Guangdong province. The waterfall is also known as the "King of Waterfalls in South China".  

International Rafting: This is a world-class rafting track that has hosted several international rafting competitions. The track is 5.8 kilometers long, with a drop of 238 meters. It has 36 rapids, 8 dangerous shoals, and 6 waterfalls. The rafting experience is thrilling and exciting, with twists and turns, ups and downs, and splashes of water. The rafting track is also surrounded by lush forests and beautiful scenery, making it a feast for the eyes as well.  

Internet Celebrity Valley: This is a valley that features various internet celebrity attractions, such as the colorful glass bridge, the heart-shaped glass platform, the rainbow slide, the flower sea, the love lock wall, and the wishing tree. The valley is full of romantic and dreamy elements, making it a popular spot for taking photos and videos.

When is the best time to visit Qingyuan Gulong Gorge?

Qingyuan Gulong Gorge is suitable for visiting all year round, as the climate is mild and pleasant, and the scenery is different in each season. However, the best time to visit is from June to August, when the weather is warm and sunny, the water level is high and fast, and the forest is lush and green. This is also the peak season for rafting, as the water temperature is comfortable and the rapids are exciting. 

How can I get there?

Long-distance bus: There are buses to Qingyuan from all over the Guangdong province. After arriving in Qingyuan city, transfer to the bus to Mingdu Bus Station and take the bus to Gulong Gorge. The taxi fare from the city to the scenic area is about 50 yuan. It is better to choose the bus to Qingyuan North Station, and the taxi fare to the scenic area is only 30 yuan.

High-speed rail: There are high-speed trains to Qingyuan from Shenzhen, Humen, Guangzhou, and Shaoguan. After arriving at Qingyuan High-speed Rail Station, transfer to the bus to Mingdu Bus Station and take the bus to Gulong Gorge. The taxi fare from the high-speed rail station to the scenic area is about 60 yuan.
