Regular Trip around Guiyang

There are a lot of natural and ethnic landscapes in Guizhou, the following is the most regular trip to Guizhou, and also the earliest of the famous tourist destinations.
 
The best time to travel Guizhou is from May to November. Rainwater is enough in summer, and in general if it rains at night, next day will be sunny. Centered on Guiyang, the southwest of Guizhou lines are karst landscapes and folk customs tourism. There are minorities of Buyi, Miao and Dong.

167 kilometers to the west of Guiyang is the most famous attractions of west line, Huangguoshu waterfall. But to understand karst enough, I suggest from Guiyang to the west, the first stop should visit to Zhijin cave. There is a sentence in tourism industry that "returning back from Mount Huangshan you are not willing to see other mountains; returning back from Jiuzhaigou, you are not willing to see other water scenery; and expect Zhijin cave there is no cave that can compare with". Formerly known as the Daji Cave, it is located in northeastern Guizhou Zhijin county Guanzhai Village Township, 120 kilometers from the provincial capital Guiyang. Split into three layers, the cave extends for some 13.5 km (8.4 mi) over a total area of 7 km2 (2.7 sq mi) and is believed to possess the largest unsupported roof span of any cave worldwide.

 

Going to Zhijin Cave can join the tour organized by local agent or self-drive if you have more than 3 year driving experience and it takes about 3-4 hours' drive. After passing Qingzhen from Guiyang, there is mountain road all the way, especially on both sides of the road of Yuanhe River, both surprise and thrill all the way. On the way to Zhijing Cave it will pass by two towns, it is best not to arrive to the local market, because the small town residents do not have very strong sense of traffic, if causing traffic jams, it will delay the time.



Arrived in Zhijin cave tourists can stay in Zhijin hotel that the accommodation environment fair to middling. Located in the boarder area of Zhenning County and Guanling County, Huangguoshu Waterfall is known as "the first waterfall in China", with the most impressive having a width of 81 meter and dropping 74 meter. A 134-meter-long curtain cave lies secretly behind the main fall. There are six 'windows', five 'sitting rooms' and three springs inside the cave. It is really wonderful that you look at the rushing waterfall through the 'windows' and touch the waterfall in the shortest distance. Among them, the Huangguoshu Waterfall is the largest with a flow of more than 700 cubic meters of water per second and huge amounts of water seem to be pouring from the sky.
 

The second day can easily go to Huangguoshu, but you have better not keen on gaining petty advantages. After reaching Huangguoshu, there will be villagers said they can take you visit Huangguoshu waterfall just cost 80RMB, actually they just take you to their backyard to look from far away. Huangguoshu waterfall has three major scenic spots: 1.cataract, 2. star ferry bridge, and 3. steep falls pond waterfall, there are a lot of people visiting. As for me, the most interesting is the star ferry bridge; the second half of the star ferry bridge is the essence. Eating inside the Huangguoshu scenic spot is expensive.
 
The night can lodge Huangguoshu hotel or the opposite of Huangguoshu hotel, a hotel is said to be the five-star (it is quite good), of course, there are guesthouses or homestay, if lodge in guesthouses remember to bargain.

 

 

In Anshun also can go to visit the Dragon Palace, which is just a water karst cave. The Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Area is famous for over 90 fabulous caves and uncountable amazing waterfalls inside. When you enter in those various caves, you will feel like that you are going to visit the palace for Dragon King living under the water in Chinese tales and myths. It is also why it is named Dragon Palace. With its grotesque structure, the Dragon Palace Cave Scenic Area presents colorful scenery of underground wind tunnel which can be toured by boat.

 

 

There is a village near Anshun worth to visit—Tianlong Village. Tianlong Village is one of these ancient Tun-Bao settlements built during the reign of Emperor Hongwu by the descendants of the soldiers of the expeditionary troops of the Ming Dynasty, where locals still wear the old-style clothes of that time and keep most of the cultural traditions of the Ming Dynasty. The Ming dynasty village constructions are intact and ground-opera (local opera “Dixi”) also complete preserved. And the locals carving craft is quite good. You can see a similar life style to that of Central China.

 

 

Note: best visiting Zhijin cave first and then go to Tianlong Village, and stay in Anshun at night to taste local features foods. Guizhou people like spicy food, if you don't eat chili you must say. There is a night market street in Anshun at night, you can eat local snacks such as grilled fish. The next day go visiting Huangguoshu waterfall.
