Hi Ole Johannesen,
Greetings from Sophie, Top China Travel!
Thank you very much for your message with questions left to us as below,
I am going to xining soon and would like to visit the kumbum (ta'er) monastery, but are there two ta'er kumbum monestarys ? On your map it is shown to be north of xining while other webpages says it lays southwest near Huangzhong.
I guess you read the map on our website as
Qinghai Tourist Map. Please kindly be advised that this is not a Xining city tourist spots map. It is a provincial map. It is Qinghai Provincal Tourists Spots map. Therefore, you find Ta’er Monastery is located on the Northeast part.
There is only on Ta’er Monastery in Xining, which is located in Huangzhong County is a typical religious building with a history more than 400 years. Taer Monastery is a wonderful architectural complex contains 9,300 structures, including Buddha halls, scripture halls, Buddhist pagodas and lamas residences. Hope the above is clear and helpful.
Hope it is helpful for your
Xining tour.
