Thanks for the question about the best way to travel from Chengdu to Huangshan.

Chengdu is located in almost west China, while Mt. Huangshan is suitated in east China. The distance between Chengdu and Huangshan is more than 1600km. There isn't direct flight or train from Chengdu to Huangshan. Therefore, if you would like to travel to Mt. Huangshan from Chengdu, you will need to travel to a city near to Huangshan first, then transit flight, train or bus to Huangshan.

The nearest cities to Huangshan with more flights and trains are Shanghai and Hangzhou. Therefore, tourists who travel from Chengdu to Huangshan can take an early morning flight for about 3 hours from Chengdu to Shanghai Hongqiao airport first, then transit a flight at about noon time or afternoon to Huangshan. It is the best way to travel from Chengdu to Huangshan, but it is a bit tiring. If you are seniors or you travel with kids, we suggest you have one night layover in Shanghai. Then choose to fly or take high speed train from Shanghai to Huangshan.

Another way get to Huangshan from Chengdu is to take a 2.5-hour from from Chengdu to Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport. Then book a private transfer from Hangzhou to Huangshan for about 3 hours.

If your tour budget is low and do not mind train trip, you can also take over night train (about 35 hours on train) to Hangzhou, then transit a high speed train to Huangshan (3 hours). If you take high speed train from Chengdu to Hangzhou (14-15 hours), then you will need to have one night stay in Hangzhou, then take high speed train from Hangzhou to Huangshan next morning.
