China's medical quality index has risen from 49.5 to 74.2 (global average is 53.7), and the rank has risen up from 110th to 60th place (by August 2017). Different Levels of Medical and Health Services in Urban and Rural Areas
Generally speaking, medical and health services in China’s rural areas are much worse than that in urban areas, where medical facilities and equipment are advanced and doctors are qualified. Western-style medical facilities with international staffs are available in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and a few other large cities.
According to the classification of Chinese hospitals, grade III, class A hospital is the best in China, which has the biggest size, the highest level on service provision, medical technology and research, medical equipment, medical team, management and medical quality. Most of China’s cities, including the provincial capitals, municipalities, small cities like Guilin have the grade III, class A hospitals. So you don’t have to worry about the medical services there and you can have the quick and effective treatment in the cities, especially the big cities.
While in the rural areas, when you travel to destinations like Jiuzhaigou, Longji Terraced Fields or Shangri-la, the medical condition is much worse, though, you can be cured if it is only slight cold or mild illness. And you can be transferred to the hospitals in city if it is serve.
