There are three main passenger train stations in Changchun now. Changchun Railway Station, Changchun West Railway Station and Changchun South Railway Station. There is no Changchun East Railway Station. There are quite limited passenger trains running in Changchun South Railway Station. Most of passenger trains are operated in Changchun Railway Station and Changchun West Railway Station. You should read carefully about the train station that is printed on train ticket, or you will go to the wrong train station and miss your train.
Antu West or Antu Railway Station are two different railway Stations in Mingyuegou Town, Antu County in Jilin province. Antu West Railway Station is main responsible for the operation of high-speed trains to and from other place, while Antu Railway Station is responsible for operating ordinary trains. There are many inter-city high-speed trains running between Changchun and Antu West every day, which is much faster than ordinary trains. But if you take tain from Changchun to Antu or Antu West, you need to transfer to local bus to Erdao Baihe Town first, which takes about 2 hours' driving. Upon your arrival in Erdao Baihe Town, you can choose to walk(about 30 minutes) or take a minivan to reach the entrance of Changbaishan Scenic Area.
Baihe Railway Station is lcoated in Erdao Baihe Town, Antu County, Jilin Province. It is the nearest train station to Changbaishan Scenic Area. But there is no direct train from Changchun to Baihe Railway Station. You need to make transfer in Tonghua Railway Station.
Changbaishan Mountain Scenic Area covers a very very large area. Currently, three slopes areas in Changbaishan Mountain are open to the public tourists, that is, the North Slope Area, the West Slope Area and the South Slope Area. The Dongpo Slope Area is sited entirely in the territory of North Korea, and it is not reachable from China side.
• The North Slope Area is the most classic tour route in Changbaishan. The access to the the North Slope Area is through Erdao Baihe Town(二道白河镇). The North Slope Area is well developed with perfect tourist facilities. And landscape to see is rich, including spectacular Changbaishan waterfalls, hot springs, and Small Tianchi Lake, underground forests, etc.. But it has the worst view of Tianchi Lake. Standing on viewing deck in the top of the North Slope, the view of Tianchi Lake is blocked by huge rocks.
• The West Slope Area is the most tired tour route. The access to it is through Songjianghe Town(松江河镇). The shuttle bus will take you directly to the parking lot of Tianchi, then you just need to walk for another 10 minutes, you will get to see Tianchi Lake. Different from the North Slope, on the top of the West Slope offer good view of Tianchi Lake. If you prefer to get to the top by hiking, it will take about 2 hours.
• The South Slope has the most beautiful of Tianchi Lake, with the best perspective! The access to it is through Changbai Town. You may take the shuttle bus from the entrance to the top, then walk for another 10 minutes to reach the lake area. The boarder of North Korea’s territory is just on the edge.
So you have to choose to get to which town or train station according to which slope area you are going to.
• To the North Slope: You may take train from Changchun to Erdao Baihe Town first. Then transfer to local bus to get tot the entrance of the North Slope. Or you can take ordinary train or high-speed train to Antu or Antu West Railway Station, then transfer to a coach at local bus station to reach Erdao Baihe Town.
• To the West Slope: You may take direct train from Changchun to Songjianghe Railway Station. Then transfer to local bus to get to the West Slope.
• To South Slope Area, you may take direct train from Changchun to Songjianghe Railway Station first, make transfer near Songjianghe Railway Station to reach Changbai Town(长白县) by bus, then transfer to Changbaishan.
