Take Airplane to Zhoushan

Taking an airplane from Xiamen to Putuoshan is the most convenient way so far. Putuo city has a small airport—Zhoushan Putuo Airport(舟山普陀山机场), the flights reaching the Putuo  city directly are mainly depart from Xiamen, Shanghai and Beijing. So, you can take directly flights from Xiamen to Putuo city without any hassle of trains, long-distance buses and taxis. There are usually five direct flights every day that departs at 06:40 am and 17:35 pm. It takes 1 hour and 35 minutes during the trip. Then one can take airport shuttle bus to port, from where take the speedboat to Putuoshan Island.

Take Bullet Train to Ningbo

Taking a bullet train is a dependable and relatively inexpensive way to reach the destination. Tourists can also take bullet train from Xiamen to Ningbo first and then take bus from ningbo to zhoushan putuo station followed by a ferry trip. There are 26 bullet trains running from Xiamen to Ningbo every day, and the first train departs at 6:51 am and the last one departs at 23:35 pm. It will take 4h37m to 5h56 according to the different trains. The first-class seat price is 445 yuan while the second-class seat is 278 yuan. After you have reached Ningbo station, you should get to the Zhujiajian Wugongshi Pier (朱家尖蜈蚣峙码头)  for a ferry trip to the Mt. Putuoshan.

Take Long-Distance Coaches to Putuoshan Island

There are direct long-distance coaches from Xiamen to Zhoushan city. The coach usually departs from Xiamen passenger terminal and arrives at Putuo passenger terminal. The departure time is at 10:00 am every day and will take 26 hours. It is a time-consuming way we are not recommend.
