Well noted that you hope to arrange a one day tour from
Kunming to Stone Forest and hope to know how you could get to Stone Forest.
If you hope the tour more comfortable and you do not need to bother finding bus, I suggest you contact with a travel agency and ask them to arrange the tour for you in advance.
If you hope to do that on your own, there are 2 ways to go to
Stone Forest from Kunming
@ Bus
1.Take Bus from the Bus stations in Kunming to Stone Forest
2.Take Bus at the Square in front of Kunming Raiway Station to Stone Forest
3.Take the Bus from Kunming to Luping, Luliang direction, and have a stop at Stone Forest
Duration: Around 2 hours
Ticket fare: RMB23-25 per person per way
Note: We suggest you take the morning bus to then you will have enough time to visit Stone Forest and have time take bus back to Kunming for accommodation.

There are several train starting from Kunming Railway Station to other cities, such as Nanning, Zhanjiang, Guilin and Shanghai, have a stop at Stone Forest. It is also convenient, but there aren’t many choices. Therefore, it is not suitable for 1 days tour. Anyway, train schedule is as below,
Train K366 Kunming-Stone Forest 1023/1208
Train K984 Kunming-Stone Forest 1128/1311
Train K986 Kunming-Stone Forest 1600/1733
Train T382 Kuming-Stone Forest 1849/2027
Duration: Around 1.5-2 hours
Ticket fare for hard seat: RMB20 per person per way
Note:
1.Train tickets request to issued 20 days prior to the depart date to avoid unavailability on the travel day.
2.If you arrange go to Stone Forest and back to Kunming on the same day, I suggest you take Train K366, which is in the morning.
3.If you arrange to stay one night at Stone Forest and back to Kunming next day, I suggest you take K986 or T382, which are in the afternoon.
