How to plan a family tour in Kunming?

I would like to tailor a trip for 3 people - myself, my husband, and our 8 year old son. We already have tickets to fly into Kunming on January 2 and to fly out in the evening of January 7. I would like to spend 1-2 days in the Kunming area and then go to Xishuangbanna. Is this something you can help with?
