Dear Kathleen,
Thank you very much for your question.
Well noted that you are planing to visit to Nanjing.
At first, please kindly be advised that there are mainly 2 railway stations. They are Nanjing Railway Station and Nanjing South Railway Station. Which railway station the train will stop in Nanjing depends on which train you will take. Generally speaking, most Bullet trains or High Speed train to Nanjing will stop at Nanjing South Railway Station. If you take ordinary train with K, T, Z before train No, it often stop at Nanjing Railway Station. Of course, some Bullet Train (D) and High Speed Train (G) also stop at Nanjing Railway Station, but only few.
Nanjing Railway Station is near to Xuanwu Lake and the central gate of City Wall of Ming Dynasty. The opposite of Nanjing Railway Station in Xuanwu Lake. But if you would like to go into the Lake park, it is better for you to take Metro Line 1 from railway station to Xunwu Gate Station( need to pass 2 stations). Then walk for around 400 meters, you could get the entrance of the lake park. Boating on the kake is the main activity in the lake park. For city call, it is on the different direction to Xuanwu Lake Park. It is around 2 kms from railway station to central gate of the city wall.
Since Nanjing is a capital city in ancient China and it is a large city in China, there are many attractions for travelers to visit, such as Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, Qing Xiaoling Mausoleum, Xuanwu Lake, Confucius Temple, Zhonghua Gate, Qinhuai River, Jingjue Mosque, City Wall of Ming Dynasty, ect.
