Hi, Jerry,
At first, thanks a lot for the question.
To be honest, if you travel to Guilin and Yangshuo on Oct 15-20, 2014, you might not have chance to see the yellow fields all over the mountains and plains. Therefore, it is not suitable for photography.
There are 3 periods in Longji Terrace Fields better for photography
1)Early March: Locals grow many Rapes in the fields and the rapeseeds are in bloom at this time. The terrace fields look golden.
2)Early-Mid June. People start to irrigate the fields. Then all the fields are covered by water. The light effect is very suitable for photography. It is easy to take a good picture.
3)Late September to Early October: All the rice in the fields is ripe. You will find them just like golden sea all over the hills. It attracts a lot of visitors. The locals often finishes their harvest after China National Day Holiday ( Octo 1-7), which is high tourism season as there are many foreign and domestic visitors to visit.
Therefore, if you visit to Longji Terrace Fields for photography, it is not good. If possible, I suggest you go there next year.
Hope the above is helpful.
