From December 1, 2023 at 00:00 to December 31, 2025 at 24:00 (Beijing time), holders of valid ordinary passports from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Malaysia travelling to China for the purposes of trade, tourism, family visit and transit are exempt from visa requirements for a maximum period of 15 days.
Holders of ordinary passports from the 6 above-mentioned countries travelling to China for any other reason or for a stay exceeding 15 days, as well as holders of service passports from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain, must always apply for a visa before travelling to China.
China adds 6 European countries that eligible for the 15-day visa free policy. From March 14, 2024, China implements visa free entry policy for 6 European countries including Switzerland, Ireland, Hungary, Austria, Belgium and Luxembourg. From March 14, 2024 to November 30, 2024, holders of ordinary passports from the above 6 countries who come to China for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends and transit for less than 15 days can enter China without visas. Therefore, there are 11 European countries are eligible for the 15-day visa free policy to enter China, which is convenient for the European citizens who plan a trip to China less than 15 days.
Whether Italian citizens need a visa to visit China will depend on how long you intend to stay in China and your purpose to go to China. Italian citizens who intend to go to China for business, sightseeing, visiting relatives and friends and transit for less than 15 days can enter China without visas. If you want to stay in China for more than 15 days, or your purpose to go to China is not applicable with the purposes of the 15-day visa-free policy, you should apply Chinese visa in advance to enter China.
Visiting China without visa, Italian citizens can stay in China for less than 15 days, and you still need some documents to enter China.

And the Chinese Visa Application Service Center will directly deal with your Chinese visa applications.

It is recommended that you make your application well in advance of the planned travel date. You are advised to apply ONE month in advance but no earlier than THREE months. Visa processing time varies with location. The actual processing time may be longer than than posted on the website, that’s why we recommend that you apply for the Chinese visa earlier but not too earlier. If you apply your visa application too early, your visa might expire before your entry to China.
Generally speaking, it is not necessary to make an appointment to apply for a Chinese visa. It will be still requested to fill in the online form, print it down and bring it to the Visa Center with the all the needed documents. We won’t be able to accept requests with uncompleted documents.
Applicants who are aged between over 14 to under 70 inclusive applying for Chinese visas are required to submit the application in person to get fingerprints and photo taken at the Visa Application Center. Please note that children are required to complete an application form online.
